Roy Arenella’s As Seeing is in the tradition of street photographers like Cartier-Bresson, Walker Evans, Robert Frank and Lee Friedlander. Arenella shares with Evans a love for letters and words.
The poet Geoffrey Young emailed this salute, “Love the Arenella. Great sequencing, and what an eye … for the passing moment.” The novelist and poet, Bill Benton, one of many Pressed Wafer subscribers to praise the book has emailed, “There’s not a page in it that doesn’t have a clear specific yield. The order of the book, the arpeggios of some of the groupings—whatever their location is, you know where you are in each one.” Several others have used the same word, “Terrific!”
I can go on and praise the just rightness of this book’s design but no matter how much I say, in the end you will have to see As Seeing for yourself.
